The end is near for Stana Katic on ‘Castle’ — but how will ABC write her off? If this promo for the season finale is any hint, the ending will not be a happy one.
We’ve known that Stana Katic was leaving Castle after season eight — but we’re still not ready for this. Beckett and Castle (Nathan Fillion) will be saying goodbye on the May 16 finale, and it may be darker than you were expecting. Here’s a quote from the finale promo that sums up everything: “Everything ends in tragedy — even an epic love story like yours.” Yikes.
In the new promo for the finale, a new villain announces something we never want to hear. “Cate Beckett is going to be dead by the end of the night, and there’s nothing you can do about it.” Of course, the episode will be Stana’s last, as she announced she’s leaving the show — and we also see she and Castle telling each other “I love you” — for the last time?
The finale is titled “Crossfire,” and just the synopsis alone would give any Castle fan goosebumps. “With their best lead in hand, Castle and Beckett are ready to take on LokSat. But an unforeseen twist puts their case — and their lives — in jeopardy.”
However, the finale may end differently than it’s planned right now. Right now, the show has not been renewed or canceled. Our sister publication, TVLine, spoke to showrunner Alexi Hawley, who revealed that if the show is renewed by this Friday, the finale will end a little bit differently — and may not include everyone. We can assume that if the show is axed, we’ll get a little more closure.
Regardless, this trailer is giving us all sorts of feels and a little bit of anxiety. Do you think that Beckett will be killed off? Should she be? Let us know!
