Blake Shelton, 39, spoke candidly about his new music off his smash hit album, If I’m Honest, at his iHeartRadio album release show on May 10. He talked about the meaning behind the song “I Bet You Still Think About Me”, which, as we all definitely thought, is about his split with ex-wife Miranda Lambert, 32! Read on for Blake’s explanation!
Geez Blake! The title “I Bet You Still Think About Me” definitely sounds like it’s about someone firing back at their ex, but what a bold move to tell the world that it’s about his painful divorce from Miranda! They used to be married, happy, and in love; of course she “misses him a little bit” and thinks about him! Blake got contemplative with his audience at The Honda Stage in Los Angeles and talks the explosive song:
“It’s basically what it sounds like,” Blake said. “At some point whether you go through a divorce or a breakup or whatever, once you get past the anger and the frustration of it all, you kind of go into the sad part of it where it’s just like, ‘Gosh, how come that didn’t work out?'” And that’s what this song is about. Even though stuff didn’t work out, I bet you miss me a little bit. It’s a sad song.”
It’s a crazy slam, since his hot duet with Gwen Stefani, “Go Ahead & Break My Heart”, is all about their crazy new love! The couple performed the song on The Voice on May 9, and it was incredible. Their chemistry is amazing, and fans went wild seeing them express their love at the very place where they discovered it!
