Jon Snow shocked everyone again by leaving the Night’s Watch on the May 8 episode of ‘Game of Thrones.’ Will he ever return to the place he called home for so long? Kit Harington answers that question and more.
After returning from the dead, Jon Snow reached his breaking point with the Night’s Watch. But is Jon really done with the Watch for good? Kit Harington reveals in an all-new interview that killing [SPOILER] was a turning point for Jon.
“He’s done with it,” Kit told EW. “He’s seen the other side, seen what’s there, and comes back and realizes he needs to lead his life and get out of there. This place betrayed him, and everything he stood for has changed. Plus, he had to kill a child, Olly, and that’s what really does it. He kills an underage kid and he can’t see the point in being up there anymore. At the heart of it, he knows by staying at the Wall he can’t help the kingdoms and he’s probably going to die very quickly if he stays.”
Kit has a point. Castle Black and the Night’s Watch is just full of bad memories for Jon. Plus, he would never be able to really look at the Night’s Watch the same after being betrayed. Olly and Alliser’s death was totally deserved, and I’m glad Jon Snow was there to see them die.
Maybe this is the push Jon needs to head back to Winterfell. Someone needs to take Winterfell from Ramsay. Plus, Rickon is there!
Kit admitted that Jon is a completely different person after being resurrected by Melisandre. “He realizes something about his life now: He has to live it, because that’s all there is,” he said in a previous interview with EW. “He’s been over the line and there’s nothing there. And that changes him. It literally puts the fear of god into him.”
Game of Thrones airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
