Only six couples remain, and on the hardest night of competition yet, each pair had to dance two routines, plus the celebs had to dance without their pro partners!
Last week’s double elimination on Dancing with the Stars really brought out the competitor in everyone — the six remaining stars gave it their all on the May 9 episode! But with amazing dances came a heartbreaking elimination of a beloved couple — read our full recap here!
Right off the bat, Nyle DiMarco, 26, and Peta Murgatroyd were told they were safe! They danced a Paso Doble to “Victorious” by Panic! At The Disco, with a section of silence, so that the audience could understand what deaf model Nyle hears when he is dancing (nothing). Len Goodman said: “Nyle, you’re amazing.” Bruno Tonioli complimented: “I thought that was mind blowing. You really have a special power. The silent sequence was like watching five men dancing to the beat of a single heart. It’s one of those moments, a Dancing With The Stars classic, that no one will ever forget.” Carrie Ann Inaba was brought to tears. They got a 29 out of 30!

Next, Antonio Brown, 27, and partner Sharna Burgess danced the Viennese Waltz to “Love on the Brain” by Rihanna. Before their dance, they were told they were in jeopardy! Talk about pressure! “Dashing, classy, romantic…attention to detail. If you want it, you can do it,” Bruno said. Carrie Ann said it was an “elegant expression of his soul.” Len praised his improved footwork. They got a 27!
Then, Jodie Sweetin, 34, and partner Keo Motsepe were told they were in jeopardy. They Jived to “Something’s Got a Hold on Me” by Christina Aguilera. “Your star continues to rise, that was your best dance ever,” Carrie Ann said. Len said this dance made him the happiest he has been! “You’ve done one of the most euphoric jives. I feel good!” Bruno said. Her Fuller House co-star Candace Cameron-Bure was in tears in the audience! They got a perfect score of 30!
‘DWTS’ Elimination: Who Went Home? — Dancing With The Stars Season 22 Recap
UFC fighter Paige VanZant, 21, along with partner Mark Ballas, danced a Viennese Waltz to “Stone Cold” by Demi Lovato. They were told they were safe before their dance! “You’re a terrific dancer,” Len said. “It was chilling and thrilling,” Bruno said. Carrie Ann loved the execution and concept. They got a 28!
Ginger Zee, 35, danced a super sexy Argentine Tango with Val Chmerkovskiy to “Telephone” by Lady Gaga featuring Beyoncé. “I was totally smitten by your performance. Let’s get it on right now,” Bruno said! “That was mind blowing! You were dancing as one. It was amazing,” Carrie Ann said. They got a perfect score of 30!
Last up in the first round, Boyz II Men’s Wanya Morris, 42, and partner Lindsay Arnold Jived to “Can You Do This” by Aloe Blacc. Wanya has lost 22 pounds so far! Unfortunately, Wanya tripped on Lindsay’s bandana during the routine. “It was a rough ride. There was more than just the bandana…but you move so naturally, even with mistakes, I find myself having such a great time,” Carrie Ann said. Len disagreed: “You came out all guns blazing. You attacked it. You lost timing a bit at one point. It is what it is.” Bruno said it was so enjoyable. Lindsay was in tears as they got a 25.
Judges Team Up Challenge — Bruno Vs. Len Vs. Carrie Ann
Team Bruno had Nyle & Peta and Jodie & Keo doing the Argentine Tango. Not only did Peta and Jodie dance together, so did Keo and Nyle, and so did Jodie and Nyle! “I loved the concept. I thought it was incredible the way Nyle and Jodie danced together. Lots of Argentine content in there,” Len said. Carrie Ann said: “That was not an easy dance. That was engaging to watch. What impressed me the most — the way you were so in sync! You guys were like the Rockettes but a super sexy version!” They got a 29 out of 30 — 10s from the judges and a 9 from America!
Next up, Len coached Ginger & Val and Wayna & Lindsay in the Samba. “That was so much fun,” Carrie Ann said. “The king of the jungle: Len! That was Samba-licious!” I saw more smiles from Len during this routine than in the whole season! They got a 29, including a 9 from America!
Finally, Carrie Ann had Mark & Paige and Antonio & Sharna dancing the Paso Doble. “Fantastic concept. I loved the physicality of it all. It had purpose, it was emotionally driven. I loved every second,” Bruno said. “I loved the start, I loved the finish. Carry on, Carrie Ann, you were terrific,” Len said. They got a 29!
In the end, Jodie and Keo were eliminated! What a shock!
