It was a false alarm! Contrary to reports, Prince hasn’t had an official memorial service yet, the family has confirmed in a statement. However, rest assured, a private and public event are being planned for the future!
It’s been almost 3 weeks since Prince was found tragically dead aged just 57. However, contrary to the belief that a memorial service happened on Apr. 23 to mark his passing, his family has confirmed that the “Purple Rain” star has yet to have a proper memorial service.
Initial reports said that Prince was cremated and a private memorial took place at his Paisley Park home, behind closed doors with friends and family in attendance. However, the family is denies that happened, but they want to assure fans that it will happen in the future! “We would like everyone to know that, contrary to previous and current reports, there has been no memorial, funeral or tribute service for Prince that was organized or authorized by the family or Paisley Park representatives,” Prince’s siblings said in a statement. “Together, the family is planning an official memorial service and public event to take place in the near future.”
Prince’s body was found slumped in an elevator at his Chanhassen, Minnesota home on April 21. Since then, artists all over the world have paid tribute to the legendary axeman.
“Prince and his music influenced so many people that we feel inspired to celebrate his life and legacy in just the right way,” the statement continued. “We appreciate the public’s patience and have been comforted by your outpouring of love, support and condolences. We look forward to sharing with the world this celebration of, and farewell to, our Prince.”
We hope that Prince gets the send off his legacy properly deserves, and the public need to have their own special way of paying tribute to he musical legend.
