The final episode of ‘The Good Wife’ airs May 8, and it’s truly the end of era. Before tuning in to the series finale, here’s everything you need to know.
It’s time to say goodbye to Alicia Florrick. The series finale of The Good Wife is just days away. In preparation for what’s sure to be a fantastic final hour of television, we have a brief recap of the previous episode, who might be coming back and more.
*When does The Good Wife series finale air?
The Good Wife series finale airs on May 8 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
*What happened in the last episode?
Peter’s trial began in the penultimate episode, with Diane defending him. Alicia and Eli tried their best to keep Peter out of jail. Alicia had Jason investigate for Peter’s trial, and it wasn’t the easiest thing for him. He feared that if Peter was convicted, Alicia would still not divorce him. Diana asked her husband, Kurt, to testify for her in Peter’s trial, and it blew up in their face.
Geneva Pine testified against Peter, but Louis Canning gave Alicia evidence that Geneva is lying to get back at Peter for ending their relationship. However, Peter continued to deny the affair and decided to accept a plea bargain of two years in jail. Before Peter revealed his decision, the jury reached a verdict.
*You have to watch Julianna Marguiles’ performance in the final episode.
“All I know is that Julianna’s performance over the entire seven seasons has always been so subtle that I think it would be a mistake to take eyes off her at any point,” showrunner Michelle King told The Daily Beast.
“I think that in each of the seven years there has been an element of growth in the character,” showrunner Robert King told the outlet. “And I thought what Julianna does very delicately is these small shifts in personality that add up to a very large shift. I think if you put the last episode and the first episode together and look at the changes in this woman, you would be surprised.”
*Josh Charles might be coming back.
“Rumor has it he will appear opposite Julianna Marguiles’ Alicia in a newly-created flashback sequence (NCFS),” our sister site TVLine reported. Josh’s character, Will Gardner, was tragically killed off in season 5, leaving fans devastated.
*Is there a chance for a spinoff?
The showrunners have been very vocal about a potential spinoff. “Nothing’s off the table,” Michelle said in Feb. 2016. They said that they are open to anything “at this point.”
