Big changes are coming to NBC! After 10 years on the ‘Today’ show, Natalie Morales will now join ‘Access Hollywood’ and ‘Access Hollywood Live’ as a co-host. But does that mean her gig on ‘Today’ is over?! And what is going to happen to current ‘Access’ co-host, Billy Bush!?
There’s a major shakeup coming to NBC’s morning television lineup! Natalie Morales, 43, has landed herself a brand new gig on Access Hollywood and Access Hollywood Live…but does that mean she’s done with her job on the Today show?!
The Today show’s senior Vice President sent a memo to staff on May 4 explaining the big change — Natalie will now co-host the Access Hollywood Shows while still serving as a West Coast correspondent for Today. She’s already been sending an increased amount of time in L.A. doing work for Today, and with Billy Bush, 44, leaving Access Hollywood, it’s the perfect time for her to take over.
Meanwhile, it’s been reported that Billy, who co-hosted Access since 2004, will be starting a new gig with Today.
“I’m writing with excited news — this summer, Natalie Morales will move to LA to become Today’s West Coast Anchor,” Today’s SVP wrote. “She’ll continue to play a prominent role on Dateline. With our show’s increasing focus on West Coast stories, it became clear to me that having a permanent anchor presence in L.A. would be of enormous value.”
Natalie joined the Today Show in 2006 and became co-host of the third hour two years later. She is also a news anchor for the 7-9:00 hours. It is expected that Billy’s addition to the morning show will be announced at NBC’s upfront presentation on May 16.
Meanwhile, big changes are coming to morning television over at ABC, as well. Michael Strahan recently announced his decision to leave Live With Kelly & Michael for a permanent role on Good Morning America, and Kelly Ripa will be testing out new co-hosts after his final episode on May 13.
What do you think of Natalie headed to Access Hollywood? Is it a good it?
