Oh Donald, Donald, Donald. The now-nominee of the Republican party wanted to get in on the Cinco de Mayo fun, and did so by promoting his hotel and saying ‘I love Hispanics’! Interesting, because just months ago he called Mexicans ‘rapists and murderers.’ See his full message, here.
Donald Trump, 69, back at it again with the conflicting statements! Just months ago he said that Mexicans were “rapists and murderers”, but he’s changing his tune now that he’s the unofficial GOP nominee. He used Cinco de Mayo as an opportunity to promote his hotel, and awkwardly added “I love Hispanics!” Here’s the tweet that has everyone freaking out.
Yikes. Plenty of celebrities are sharing fun pictures and messages for Cinco de Mayo, but we think Donald may have missed the mark with his. On May 5, he took to Twitter to share a photo of himself about to dig into a tostada bowl with the message “Happy
#CincoDeMayo! The best taco bowls are made in Trump Tower Grill. I love Hispanics!”
Wow, promoting your hotel AND making a tone-deaf statement about a race you’ve been marginalizing for your entire candidacy? Donald’s had a busy day. Apart from calling all Mexicans “rapists and murderers” he’s also been talking non-stop about building a wall between American and Mexico, and deporting all illegal immigrants.
This isn’t the first time he’s expressed his “I love Hispanics” sentiment. When he gave his speech after his main challenger Ted Cruz dropped out of the race on May 3, he repeatedly said that the loved them and that they were an important part of our country. It seems like Donald is quickly trying to undo the damage he’s done with his relationship to Latinos in the primary stage, and try to win some votes for the general election. Good luck with that, buddy.
@realDonaldTrump C'mon man, even your Mexican food has a wall.
