How sad. Tupac’s mother, Afeni Shakur Davis, died after allegedly suffering a heart attack on Monday night, May 2.
The mother of slain rapper Tupac Shakur has died, according to a report by People. Afeni Shakur Davis died in Sausalito, California from cardiac arrest on Monday night, May 2, at the age of 69.
At approximately 9:30pm the police were called to Afeni’s home after receiving a call that she might be having a heart attack. Afeni was transferred to a local hospital where she unfortunately passed at approximately 10:28pm PT. So sad.
Afeni was the subject of one of Tupac’s greatest hits, “Dear Mama,” which was featured on his Me Against The World album that was released in 1995. It was later featured on his greatest hits album. Afeni was also featured in the music video, which you can watch below:
After losing Tupac in 1996, Afeni started the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation, which offers training and support to children looking to hone their creative talents, according to the official Facebook page. She also helped create the Broadway musical Holler If Ya Hear Me, which featured her son Tupac’s music which ran for 38 performances in the summer of 2014.
