Dana Stubblefield will face those rape charges without his wife by his side — because she’s filed for divorce! As the ex-NFL star stands accused of sexually assaulting a mentally disabled woman, his wife, Terri Stubblefield, has demanded full custody of their two kids!
The trouble has just begun for Dana Stubblefield, the 45-year-old former NFL player charged with raping a mentally disabled woman. After the three-time Pro-bowler was accused of this horrific crime, his wife, Terri Stubblefield, decided to get her as far away from him as possible!
Terri filed divorce papers in Santa Clara Country family court on Feb. 29, 2016, according to TMZ. The documents, submitted by Terri’s lawyer, John Conway, list Feb. 17 as the date of separation. This move by Terri will end her near-7 year marriage with Dana, and the date comes right as the former NFL champion faces allegations of rape.
Though Dana’s alleged sexual assault of a babysitter happened in April 2015, sources tell TMZ that investigators contacted him in March 2016, right around the time Terri reportedly filed for divorce. The two have two kids together – a 1-year-old and a 4-year-old – and Terri is seeking full legal and physical custody, according to TMZ. While she’s willing to give Dana visitation rights, she’s reportedly asking for spousal support.
Dana stands accused of sexually assaulting a 31-year-old mentally disabled woman he reportedly met through a website advertising local babysitters. After reportedly talking with the women for 20 minutes at his home, he allegedly carried her to an upstairs bedroom and had her way with her.
Dana has been charged with rape, rape of a victim incapable of giving consent, oral copulation, oral copulation with a victim incapable of giving consent and false imprisonment. The former NFL star — who was part of the Super Bowl XXIX winning San Francisco 49ers — was released from custody after posting $250,000 bail, according to The Mercury News.
