Oh no! Britney Spears was forced to revisit her haunting past on May 2, when she came face-to-face with her ex-manager, Sam Lufti — a man whom her family claims nearly destroyed her relationships AND her career! Find out all the details here.
Britney Spears, 34, had to face her troubled past on May 2. The singer’s extensive court battle against her ex-manager Sam Lufti was recently revived, which means Brit was forced to sit face-to-face with Sam during a deposition for the first time in years.
The “Drive Me Crazy” singer hashed it out with her ex-manager in a conference room on May 2, answering questions about her previous professional relationship with Sam, according to TMZ. The sit-down comes after Brit’s legal team attempted to keep Sam out of the conference room during her questioning. Her legal team claimed his presence in the room would intimidate her and prevent her from thinking clearly.
The judge didn’t buy Britney’s claims though, ruling in favor of Sam. But the judge agreed to take the proper steps to protect the singer’s wishes. A long table was required, with Britney and Sam sitting on opposite ends as well as a “surveillance type camera” to record the deposition and make sure Sam wasn’t intimidating his former friend and client. They were also required to arrive and leave at different times, in the risk of a run-in, according to TMZ.
Britney and Sam’s history dates back a little under ten years. The two met in 2007 and began a professional relationship going back and forth via text messages, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Although from a music standpoint, Britney was at the top of her game, climbing the charts with almost every song, Britney and her family claimed he nearly took it all away from her. Her family claimed that Sam was giving her drugs and attempted to strain her relationship with mom, Lynne Spears, 60. Sam came back against those claims in 2007, saying that he was trying to get her off of using pain meds and that he was the one who reconciled Britney’s relationship with her mother. During their extended court battle, Sam also claimed that Britney’s dad Jamie Spears, 63, punched him, although no charges were ever filed.
This walk down memory lane has to be coming at the worst time for the Circus singer. Things have really been coming together for her. While she’s been focusing on her career and making new music, everything has seemed to be really great in her personal life as well. Nowadays, she’s either been caught sporting her toned abs on the beach or spending quality time with her sons. This definitely has to be hard for the singer to remember what was such a dark time for her and her family, but hopefully Britney will be able to find closure when it’s all over.
