1. When is the Met Gala?
The Met Gala is Monday, May 2. It is the annual fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City.
2. How can I watch?
For the first time, E! will be hosting a Live from the Red Carpet special. The red carpet pre-show will start at 7 p.m. ET, followed by the special at 7:30 p.m. ET. Instagram will also be dedicating a video channel to Met Ball coverage, according to our sister site WWD. You can watch on the Explore page until May 3 at 5 p.m.
Unfortunately, the actual Met Gala will not be televised. But it’s all about the red carpet anyway!
3. What is the theme?
The theme for this year’s Met Gala is Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. Sounds like we’re going to be seeing some cutting edge fashion this year!
4. Who is hosting this year’s Met Gala?
Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour is the event’s official chair and host. However, Taylor Swift is this year’s honorary chair. Her co-hosts are Idris Elba and Apple’s chief design officer Jonathan Ive. Honorary chairs also include Louis Vuitton designer Nicolas Ghesquière, Karl Lagerfeld, and Miuccia Prada. Apple is sponsoring the event.
5. What other celebrities will be there?
Selena Gomez, Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are definitely going. Calvin Harris, Kylie Jenner, Beyonce, Jay Z, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevingne, Alicia Vikander, Jennifer Lawrence and more could definitely show up.
