It’s a ‘West Wing’ reunion — sort of! Allison Janney took over The White House Press Room on April 29 as her beloved character C.J. Cregg, and surprised EVERYONE!
Allison Janney, 56, knows how to work a room, even if that room is full of reporters waiting to hear from the actual White House Press Secretary. Allison crashed The White House Press Room with a hilarious briefing as her iconic character from ‘West Wing’
Allison showed up to The White House Press Room as CJ Cregg, her character from the hit television series West Wing. Instead of hearing Josh Earnest, 39, the White House Press Secretary speak, a room full of reporters got to be “briefed” by one of the best fictional White House Press Secretaries television has ever seen!
The actress started out by saying, “Good afternoon. I was going to tell you all to be seated, but you’re already seated, so we can begin.” She continued by briefing the room on where Josh the Press Secretary was — apparently he was having a root canal, but she assured the room that everything was okay by saying, “I’m better at this then him.”
She just might be right, because she had the whole room going! She even poked a little fun at Obama. “The president is still working on his jokes for the White House Correspondents Dinner. I don’t have any details on that other than he intends to be funny.”
She didn’t get too far into her announcements before Josh returned to resume his rightful position behind the podium. Allison is in town for the White House Correspondants Dinner, but more importantly, to talk about the administrations new initiatives on the nations growing opioid painkiller abuse.
Specifically, Allison’s talk brought attention to ten individuals the White House will honor as “champions of change.” Allison has been a major voice in speaking out for this cause. “This is a disease that can touch anybody and all of us can help reduce drug abuse through evidence-based treatment, prevention, and recovery,” she said.
Although this year’s dinner is being headlined by Larry Wilmore, 54, after this incident, maybe Allison has a shot at hosting next year. Actually, maybe they’ll let CJ Cregg do it!
