If you’re looking for a fresh way to see New York City without doing a regular old bus tour, then this is the experience for you. Here’s why ‘The Ride’ is the most entertaining sightseeing tour around!
There’s so much to see in NYC and only so much time to do it all. Luckily, The Ride provides a super-fun tour filled with interactive performances, trivia, comedy and more. HollywoodLife.com tried it out and the jury is in: it’s a must-do in the Big Apple!
Our ride kicked off outside Señor Frog’s restaurant in Times Square. We were loaded onto the uniquely designed bus, which has stadium-style seats that face one side. Our tour guides, Scott and Jackie, bantered and warmed up the crowd, and clearly have had improv training because they were pretty funny.
Our tour guides had some great jokes lined up (did you know that Bryant Park is named after Kobe Bryant? Me neither!) and we even had an only-in-New-York moment, where a guy holding up a sign in Times Square that said “Any white women want to go out with me?” chased our bus for a few blocks after Jackie mimed at him through the window. Naturally, the entire bus was laughing its ass off.
I won’t ruin all of the stops on the tour, but it’s a thorough look at traditional midtown landmarks with cool “spontaneous” street performances mixed in, including a Broadway dancer, a ballerina and a saxophone player. My favorite was the impromptu Shake Shack rap, which worked in the names of two riders celebrating birthdays and my own mother, who I took on the tour. Hilarious. It was an awesome time overall, and definitely a change from the norm!
