Oh no! Poor Prince may have been in worse shape than we’d known before his untimely death, as friends say he had been undergoing medical treatments that had weakened the musician’s immune system.
How scary! Prince had been struggling with an ongoing illness at the time of his tragic Apr. 21 passing at 57-years-old, and the treatments that he’d been receiving reportedly made the singer’s immune system a lot more weak, leaving him vulnerable to things like the flu. While his cause of death has yet to be determined, his friends are revealing that the musician was a lot sicker than previously believed.
“The people close to him were very concerned for his health and indicated he’d been undergoing treatments which made his immune system weak,” a source tells People magazine. They also go on to say that the Prince been battling an “ongoing illness” at the time of his shocking death.
While it’s not clear what the nature of the illness was that he was struggling with, his camp said he had been battling a nasty case of the flu that caused him to postpone several concerts on his Piano and a Microphone tour. He was able to muster up the strength to perform what was turned out to be his final concert at the Fox Theater in Atlanta Apr. 14 and those in attendance said he gave a blow-away show and didn’t seem to be in poor health, even though he admitted he’d been “under the weather” lately which resulted in his missed performances.
An autopsy was performed on the singer’s body a day after he was found unresponsive and not breathing in an elevator in his suburban Minneapolis estate Paisley Park. The medical examined found “no obvious signs of trauma,” but it will be weeks before toxicology tests come back that will give a more clear determination of what took his life.
The “1999: singer had reportedly been taking the powerful painkiller percocet close to the time of his death to deal with a hip condition. He used so much of it that his private plane had to make an emergency landing in Moline, IL on the way back home from his Atlanta show so he could be given a “save shot” to revive him after he fell unconscious. But less than two days later he gathered fans for a brief appearance at Paisley Park to let them know he was okay and to “wait a few days before you waste any prayers.” Five days later he was found dead.
HollywoodLifers, do you think the autopsy will conclude that Prince had a drug overdose?
