Pearl is a well known London theater actress. She recently appeared in the West End production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime.
2. Her character is named Bill.
This is her first major television role. Pearl revealed details about her character in a new statement: “I’m incredibly excited to be joining the Doctor Who family. It’s such an extraordinary British institution, I couldn’t be prouder to call the TARDIS my home! Reading the script at the audition I thought Bill was wicked. Fantastically written, cool, strong, sharp, a little bit vulnerable with a bit of geekiness thrown in – I can’t wait to bring her to life, and to see how she develops through the series.”
3. She’s replacing Jenna Coleman.
Doctor Who’s last companion was Clara Oswald, played by Jenna. The actress left the series in Dec. 2015 to stat in the new ITV series Victoria.
4. Pearl has appeared in another hit BBC series.
She had the role of Anne-Marie Frasier for one episode on the BBC series Doctors in 2014.
5. She’s a skilled dancer.
Pearl is a trained singer and dancer. She’s skilled in ballet, jazz, period dance and tap, according to BBC.
