People might not realize how many little things they can do to contribute to the well-being of our planet. It could be as simple as planting something. If you plant your own fruits and veggies, you’re improving not only your health but you’re also reducing the amount of fossil fuel emissions by not having to transport the food to stores! Win-win!
2. There are events happening all over the world today
There are SO many festivals, events, gatherings and walks happening around the world to celebrate Earth Day! It extends over the weekend too, so have a look at earthday.org to find out what festivities are happening near you.
3. Being A Veggie Might Save The Planet
Okay you don’t have to be a TOTAL veggie but by pledging to go meat free just ONCE a week, you’re seriously contributing to our beautiful planet. By switching to a veggie diet plan you could reduce your water footprint by 1,300 liters, OR by 474,500 liters per year. Doing Meatless Monday’s is a good way to start!
4. It’s One Of Leonardo DiCaprio’s Favorite Causes
Every year Leonardo DiCaprio gives a nod to Earth Day. And this year was no different. He re-tweeted a tweet which read, “We can, we must, deliver on promise of the
#ParisAgreement. @LeoDiCaprio and I suggest 5 ways how #earthday.” He also shared a photo to Instagram with a similar message, “Honored to be part of this historic first step alongside Ban Ki-moon and so many world leaders. Now is the time for bold unprecedented action”.
5. Twitter Loves It
The account for 30 Rock posted a photo on Twitter of David Schwimmer, Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin as they were seen celebrating Earth Day with the caption, “Happy
#EarthDay from your friendly neighborhood Greenzo! #30Rock.” Shailene Woodley got in on the fun too! She posted an amusing picture of herself hugging a tree and of course she captioned it, “Go hug a tree today! Happy #EarthDay! @shailenewoodley.”
