Prince will be missed by many, but no one more than his sister Tyka Nelson. Tyka, the younger sister of the late musician, was photographed sporting fresh purple locks in support of her brother.
Since the passing of legendary musician Prince, 57, on April 21, many fans and celebrities alike have shown their support for the star. His sister, Tyka Nelson, 55, may have made the most public show of support. In a newly released photo, Tyka is shown sporting purple hair, most likely as a show of support for her late brother.
As many know, purple is a color that is synonymous with prince. From his flamboyant outfits to his most renowned hit, “Purple Rain,” it’s a color that reminds people of Prince. So seeing Tyka with purple hair only a day after her brothers death, is definitely a testament and small symbol of her love and gratitude for her big brother.
Not only did she dye her hair, but she also showed up at Prince’s Paisley Park compound in Minneapolis, the state where she also resides, to greet fans of the musician. She has had nothing but kind words to say to fans since news of his death was made public.
At the compound she told fans, “He loved all of you. Thank you for loving him back.” It was sweet of her to acknowledge the fans and their support during her time of grief, which just goes to show how much the fans truly did mean to Prince.
Tyka has also sent the same messages very publicly via her social media accounts as well. On April 21 she wrote to fans on her Facebook page saying, “Thank U 4 Loving My Brother! He LOVED Playing His Music & I KNOW He Loved U 2.” A message which has comforted many fans during their time of grief as well.
It’s nice to see the fans rallying around Prince, and equally as nice to see the support they are giving to his family amidst this devastating tragedy. The purple hair may not have been necessary, but it was a nice touch, and a beautiful tribute and a small token of love from the woman who may have known him best.
