Taylor Swift is a songwriting machine, but writing about a painful breakup gave her pause. Her ruined relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal was the hardest thing she ever had to write about! Click through to watch her explain!
Revisiting heartbreak is always painful, but when Taylor Swift, 26, had an emotional breakup with Jake Gyllenhaal, 35, in 2010, she made the bold choice of writing a song about it! The resulting song, “All Too Well,” was the hardest thing she’s ever written, the songstress told Vogue in their 73 Questions series on April 19. Click through to watch!
73 Questions is a rapid-fire interview series in which the celebrity is asked, well, 73 questions about everything and anything about their lives. Aside from grilling Taylor on her cat knowledge and about her favorite scented candles, the interviewer had to know what the hardest song for her to write was!
Apparently, “All To Well” took the longest for Taylor to write, for an upsetting reason.”‘All Too Well’ because it’s a really emotional song [took the longest],” Taylor said. “I kept putting it down for months on end.” Aww! Poor Taylor! It’s no secret that “All Too Well” is about her relationship with Jake, crashed and burned in early 2011 after blissful days cuddling and canoodling around NYC. It was a deep hurt that inspired her whole album Red — so it’s not too terrible that it happened!
Taylor dished about something else surprising: the biggest thing she’s been scared about, but that she always wanted to do was go to Coachella (this interview was recorded several months ago)! Well, she certainly conquered that fear and made her dream come true! Taylor had a blast at Coachella Weekend 1 seeing her boyfriend Calvin Harris rock the stage, and partied the night away at the rest of the music festival. Jake who?
