Celebs like Kylie Jenner and Emma Roberts brought out major beauty looks for weekend 1 of Coachella. And while the makeup looks were a mashup of different trends, everyone seemed to be rocking a braid. Click ahead to get the details on the best braided hairstyles at Coachella so far!
Coachella is known for bringing out the best summer beauty looks. But while trends like flash tattoos and glitter brows are fun to look at, they can be hard to pull off IRL. Always in style no matter what the season or occasion are braided looks that practically every celebrity who hit up Coachella sported at some point over the weekend.
Putting every other braided look to shame was Kylie Jenner‘s rainbow creation by Tokyo Stylez. For her festival look, Tokyo created a multi-colored wig that included shades of pink, purple, blue, green and yellow, which Kylie then had styled into French braid pigtails. If you want to add a rainbow effect to your own braided look, once your hair has been styled, use any colored hair chalks you like (try Splat Hair Chalk) and finish with hairspray to seal in the temporary color.
Never one to miss a chance to sport braids, Khloe Kardashian wanted to get in on the festival look, too, despite not actually being at Coachella. Stylist Jen Atkin gave Khloe boxer braid pigtails with mini knots and white hair ties.
Working braids into their looks in more subtle ways were actresses Emma Roberts and Shay Mitchell. Emma wore her hair parted down the center and straight with a small section of her hair on one side styled into a fanned out braid by Nine Zero One Salon co-founder, Riawna Capri. Shay went for an accent braid as well, with stylist Laura Polko giving her slightly textured hair with a tiny reverse French braid along her part.
The models at Coachella brought their braid a-game, too, with Victoria’s Secret Angels Alessandra Ambrosio and Taylor Hill both rocking braids. Alessandra started things off with simple braided pigtails, then later switched things up by wearing her hair in beachy waves with a mini braid weaved in. Meanwhile, Taylor went with a classic boho style by wearing her hair in a messy milkmaid braid.
No matter what braided hairstyle you choose to recreate, try to work with second-day hair and make sure to prep your hair with a texturizing spray like Garnier De-Constructed Texture Tease, to give it more grip. Not only does this make braiding easier, but a texturizing spray is also great for achieving a more undone finish.
