‘Dancing With The Stars’ pro Cheryl Burke is busting out some fancy footwork to walk back a major slam on former-partner, Ian Ziering. After saying the ‘Sharknado’ star made her want to ‘slit her writs,’ Cheryl apologized for ‘mocking’ suicide! Click to see.
Cheryl Burke, 31, is debuting a brand new dance routine: the “Apology Cha-Cha.” After the Dancing With The Stars superstar said that partnering with 90210 heartthrob Ian Ziering, 52, made her want to kill herself, Cheryl has decided to take it back!
“I’ve always lived by the rule that if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all,” Cheryl tweeted on April 17. “Recently and regrettably, I broke that rule. In the heat of an interview conversation, I used a phrase that seemingly makes light of suicide and I deeply regret it.”
“I have many friends and family members that struggle with depression and thoughts of suicide. To have said something that seemingly makes a mockery of what they’ve gone through and what they live with is something that I apologize for. I never meant to hurt anyone or to trivialize the topic. I was out of line and for that I apologize.”
That might be a textbook example of a literal “Sorry Not Sorry,” as the DWTS pro didn’t mention Ian at all in her apology. It seems she stands by what she told Matt Weiss, 36, and Theo Von, 36, on their Allegedly podcast. Cheryl said that “spending time with [Ian] for eight to 10 hours, seven days a week for three months…made me want to slit my wrists. I was like crying to the execs, ‘is there any way to just eliminate us?’ and they’re like ‘we can’t do that.’ And I swear to God every time I’d ask, we just kept going. We lasted til the end.”
Well, there goes Cheryl’s chances of being in Sharknado 4, though it sounds she’d rather be bitten in half by a great white than spend any more time with Ian. Yikes. The full episode of Allegedly will be released on April 19 on iTunes. Will she have anything more to say about her “least favorite” DWTS partner?
