Stana Katic’s departure from ‘Castle’ has shocked everyone. Following the announcement, the ‘Castle’ creator confessed he was ‘heartbroken’ over the news.
No more Beckett. ABC announced that Stana Katic, 37, would be leaving Castle after season 8. Castle creator Andrew W. Marlowe took to Twitter to sound off on the news, and his tweet will leave you in tears.
“Heartbroken. There are no words. #nmc,” Andrew tweeted on April 18. It seems like the hashtag #nmc is for “no more Caskett [the ship name for Castle and Beckett].” Former Castle executive producer Terri Edda Miller responded to Andrew’s tweet with, “I second that emotion.”
Castle didn’t lose just one main cast member. Tamala Jones, who plays Lanie Parish, is also leaving the show. Our sister site Deadline first reported the news.
ABC has released the following statement: “Kate Beckett has been a beloved character on our hit series Castle for the past 8 years,” the statement read. “We are grateful for Stana Katic’s talent and dedication to the series and we hope to continue our relationship. Tamala Jones has also been an integral part of the series and we are grateful she was a part of Castle.“
Stana and Tamala have been a part of the show since the first episode. Fans have been rooting for Beckett and Castle (Nathan Fillion) as a couple from the very beginning. It will be interesting to see how they write Beckett off. Is there really Castle without Beckett?
Castle has yet to be renewed for a ninth season. The show is currently in its eighth season. The season 8 finale of Castle will air May 16 on ABC.
