It hasn’t been an easy road for Leah Messer. The ‘Teen Mom 2’ star appears on the April 18 episode of ‘The Steve Harvey Show,’ and breaks down while discussing her stint in rehab in this sneak peek clip. Watch her get emotional on the tough subject here.
Leah Messer, 23, is turning her life around…but it hasn’t been an easy battle. The reality star herself can’t help but get choked up over all her past troubles, including a stint in rehab for anxiety and depression, during an interview with Steve Harvey, airing April 18, and it’s pretty hard to watch.
“It took me quite some time to decide whether I was going to go or not,” the 23-year-old admits. “I’m from West Virginia and everyone I was around didn’t quite support me going away. They didn’t think it was good. But I knew I was suffering from something. I didn’t know what it was, but I was suffering, and I needed help.”
At such a young age, Leah has already given birth to three kids, including one with a physical disability, and she’s gotten divorced two times. The Teen Mom 2 star has been accused of drug use, but listed anxiety and depression as her reason for checking into a well-known treatment center over the summer.
“Not even six months ago I probably would’ve never seen what I see now, of how stressful it was and painful,” she adds. “Doing it the right way and being able to have that platform to teach girls to do it the right way, that’s what matters to me.”
Leah’s troubles were documented on the last season of Teen Mom 2, but the struggle continued even after she left rehab — as we saw in recent episodes of the MTV series, her ex, Corey, got primary custody of the pair’s twins, Ali and Aleeah, 6, last year.
On top of that, Leah has been fiercely criticized as a neglectful mother during this season of the series: On camera, she denied her daughters’ breakfast, and was seen texting and driving with the little girls in the backseat. Yikes!
Do you think Leah made the right move by going to rehab, HollywoodLifers?
