This is pretty much the best news ever! Josh Charles will likely reprise his role as the late Will Gardner in ‘The Good Wife’s May 8 series finale, according to HollywoodLife.com’s sister site, TVLine. Get all the details here!
“Rumor has it he will appear opposite Julianne Margulies’ Alicia in a newly-created flashback sequence (NCFS),” TVLine reports. As you’ll recall, Josh’s Will Gardner was killed off in Season 5. Josh returned to the show in Season 6, but only to direct an episode. After the show’s ending was announced during the Super Bowl in February, Josh took to Twitter to congratulate the cast and crew.
“Congrats to my Good Wife family on an amazing run. I’m proud to have been a part of it & wish the entire crew all the best down the stretch!” he tweeted on Feb. 8.
While some fans were surprised by the announcement, Julianne had hinted the ending was near, when she said she’d be unemployed come April. “I surprised [show-runners] Robert and Michelle [King] tonight,” Julianna said during her speech at the Casting Society of America’s third annual Artios Awards in January, according to Vulture. “They didn’t know I was going to be here. They think I’m here for them, but I’m unemployed come April, and I think you haven’t seen me in a while, at least not in person, so I thought I should show up.
We’re sad to see The Good Wife ending, but we’re excited for Josh’s likely return!
