Oh my god, is the youngest of the murderous ‘Manson Family’ about to be set free? Leslie Van Houten, one of Charles Manson’s cult followers, was deemed ‘suitable for parole’, and if she can get the approval of the parole board and Governor, she could soon be a free woman. Here’s the scoop.
Holy moly! Leslie Van Houten, 66, the youngest of Charles Manson’s murderous followers, may soon be out of prison. She was ruled “suitable for parole,” and now she just needs to be approved by the parole board and the Governor and she’s home free! We have all the scary details, right here.
Leslie has been in prison since 1969, when she helped commit the grisly murders of Leno and Rosemary LaBianca by holding them down and stabbing them, along with the rest of the “Manson Family” cult. She described the act in disgusting detail during the trials, and has applied for parole 20 times since her sentencing. Finally, she was approved on April 14, but she still has a way to go.
In order to get out of prison, she needs to pass through a parole board and get the approval of Governor Jerry Brown. Only one other follower of Charles’ has gotten approved for parole, and Jerry blocked it. Leslie’s chances aren’t much better, especially considering how first victim Sharon Tate’s sister Debra started a petition to block the parole.
However, her lawyer Rich Pfeiffer is really pushing to get her out. “The only violent thing she has ever done in her entire life was this crime and that was under the control of Charles Manson,” he said. “She is just not a public safety risk, and when you are not a public safety risk, the law says you shall be released.”
