Uh oh! Was beef brewing between Kobe Bryant and Nick Young after their last game together? Nick just revealed that when he asked Kobe to sign his sneakers, the now retired player tossed them in the trash instead. Just wait until you find out why!
Kobe Bryant, 37, is pretty well known for giving out signed pairs of sneakers at Lakers games. However, after his final game, he boldly refused to sign a pair of sneakers belonging to his very own teammate, Nick Young, 30. Sick burn, dude!
Did Kobe and Nick end things on bad terms? Nope, not at all! As Nick revealed in a final interview after Kobe’s last game, the Nike spokesman refused to sign his sneakers after the game. But the reason why? Because Nick tried to get him to sign adidas instead!
“Kobe [was] signing autographs, we was on the line like we was fans in the locker room,” Nick said with a huge smile, recalling the final moments he shared as Kobe’s teammate. “The fact he threw out my adidas and didn’t sign my adidas, I was a little disappointed in that. He could not end without something like that. He threw my shoes in the trash, but that’s Kobe for you.” Click HERE to watch Nick’s interview!
Thankfully, Nick doesn’t seem too upset about the incident and laughed about it a few times while discussing what went down when he asked for Kobe’s autograph. Plus, Nick shared that Kobe did, eventually, give him an autograph — and then some.
Nick followed up the funny story with, “He signed some Nike’s and told me to go get some Nike’s, he’s not signing no adidas.” The best part? Nick said that Kobe also took a picture with” his son, which he thought was really cool. So sweet!
We’re glad to hear that Kobe and Nick ended on good terms, and that their sneaker drama was just because of which brands they represent.
