Tribeca Film Festival 2016 Guide: 8 Can’t Miss Movies & Events

On April 13, Tribeca Film Festival will screen indie features, documentaries, foreign films, and many more for the 15th year in a row -- so here's the can't miss guide. We have to say that the line up for this year's Tribeca Film Festival is a star-studded, talented bunch -- and most of the scheduled events are can't miss. However, I've narrowed it down to the can't miss ones in my opinion. With 12 days, 77 world premieres and an epic anniversary screening, we knew you'd need a little guide.

Taxi Driver anniversary screening
Event: April 21, Beacon Theater
Let’s start with that anniversary of the cast of Taxi Driver! Following a screening of the film, which came out forty years agoMartin Scorsese, Robert De Niro, Jodie Foster, Cybill Shepherd, and writer Paul Schrader will take part in a conversation moderated by Kent Jones.

Elvis & Nixon
Premiere: April 18
The comedy-drama dramatizes a meeting between Elvis Presley and Richard Nixon that happened in 1970. Elvis is played by Michael Shannon and Nixon is perfectly played by Kevin Spacey. This is also co-written by The Princess Bride‘s Cary Elwes.

Tribeca Talks, Tom Hanks
Talk: April 22
Oscar winner Tom Hanks will sit down for a conversation with Last Week Tonight‘s John Oliver to discuss his career, and new film A Hologram for the King.

King Cobra
Premiere: April 18
James Franco, Garrett Clayton, and Christian Slater star in the gay porn biopic based on the life of Sean Paul Lockhart, AKA Brent Corrigan and his relationship with his manager.

Tribeca Talks, JJ Abrams
Talk: April 15
Legendary director JJ Abrams will be sitting down in a talk hosted by Chris Rock — and we know it will be as epic as we’re hoping.

The Good Wife: A Farewell
Series Finale Conversation: April 17

With the show wrapping in May, Julianna Margulies, Christine Baranski and Cush Jumbo will sit down with creators, Robert and Michelle King for a chat — plus, we’ll see a finale preview!

All We Had
Premiere: April 15

Katie Holmes is stepping behind the camera for the first time ever to direct the film, which was adapted from Annie Weatherwax‘s novel; Katie also stars in the film as a single mother struggling to raise her daughter, a teenager, played by Stefania Owen.

Greenleaf
Premiere: April 20
Oprah! Yes, Oprah will premiere her new TV show, created by Craig Wright and of course, produced by the woman herself. The show is about a powerful African-Amreican family in Memphis and is set to air on the OWN Network. Oprah will be a recurring guest star, and after the screening, she’ll chat about the show.
