It’s a victory for Meadow Walker. Although nothing will ever replace the pain of losing her father, Paul Walker, the 17-year-old has reached a deal in her settlement case in the aftermath of Paul’s fatal 2013 car crash — and the payout is huge.
Meadow Walker, 17, just became $10 million richer. Paul Walker’s daughter has settled a deal against Roger Rodas, who was driving the Porsche when it crashed, killing him and Paul, in Nov. 2013…and she might even have more coming her way.
The 17-year-old actually reached her settlement back in 2014, but it was filed under the name Meadow W., so the details have not been released until now. Although he wasn’t directing the car through “unsafe maneuvers” when it spun out of control and went up in flames, Roger is partly to blame for the crash, according to Meadow’s attorney, which is where the settlement came in.
“The amount paid by the estate of Roger Rodas into a trust for Meadow Walker only covers a fraction of what her father would have earned as an international movie star had his life not tragically been cut short,” the attorney said in a statement. “Through his estate, Mr. Rodas, the driver of the car, took partial responsibility for the crash.” Sadly, Roger died in the accident, as well.
Meadow received $7.2 million in the settlement, while her lawyer got just under $3 million, according to TMZ.
There’s more where that came from, though. Meadow has also sued Porsche, stating that the Porsche Carrera GT Paul and Roger were riding in was defective, also causing the crash. Roger’s widow, Kristine, lost her own battle against Porsche, but Meadow still intends to push on to seek justice.
HollywoodLifers, do you think $10 million is a proper settlement for Meadow? Do you think she’ll win the suit against Porsche?
