OMG — sometimes, the end isn’t really the end! Tonight, the winner of the 15th and final season of ‘American Idol’ was crowned, but host Ryan Seacrest dropped a bombshell: there might be another season after all!
American Idol named the winner of its last season tonight, April 7, but as the credits rolled, Ryan Seacrest hinted during the goodbyes that this might not be the last time we see Idol — see what the sneaky host had to say!
Yep, you heard that right: Ryan teased another iteration of Idol as he said his goodnights: “As we say in Hollywood, good night America…for now.” Dun dun dun!
Ryan has been with us since the very beginning, and tonight, original judges Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson gifted the talented host with the giant white American Idol sign to take home — plus Simon Cowell gave a surprise appearance to support Ryan, too! Aww. “I think Paul and Randy should apologize for being so mean to the contestants over the years,” Simon joked to the audience, and you could see the huge smile on Ryan’s face at seeing his old pal.
Even if we don’t get any more seasons of Idol, we’re happy to have witnessed 15 amazing years of the singing competition. The epic run was capped off with tonight’s incredible finale, during which we saw performances from Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler, Katharine McPhee and more. With rock, country and pop medleys, the debut of Jennifer Lopez‘s new single “Ain’t Your Mama” and a beautiful David Bowie tribute, tonight was full of incredible surprises. Of course, we also found out who won the whole damn thing!
