Sing it, Peyton Manning! Just one month after announcing his retirement from the NFL, the former Denver Broncos quarterback surprised patrons at a Nashville bar with a performance of the country song ‘Rocky Top.’ Watch Peyton sing his heart out right here!
Is Peyton Manning picking up a singing career in his post-football days? It sure seemed that way when he showed up to a Nashville bar on April 4! The 40-year-old Super Bowl 50 champion got into the country vibe by belting out a rendition of “Rocky Top” with singer Lee Brice, and he may have given fans a little taste of what he’s going to do now that he’s retired!
During a weekly Whiskey Jam at Nashville’s Winners Bar and Grill, Peyton shocked the Monday night crowd when he took the stage with Lee. The NFL great didn’t just choose to sing a country song, but he paid tribute to his alma mater, University of Tennessee, with his song choice — and was even wearing a Tennessee-orange tie! Talk about getting into the spirit!
As the audience hooted and hollered for Peyton, he was clearly enjoying his time on stage. He couldn’t stop smiling while he sang! Also joining Peyton and Lee on stage were Shay Mooney (of country duo Dan + Shay) and singer Ward Guenther. Despite the fact that Peyton was on stage with three actual country singers, for the most part they let him have the mic…and everyone totally loved it!
Admittedly Peyton isn’t the best singer, but hey, who cares how he sings when he had a football career like his, right? Peyton has yet to reveal what his post-playing plans are, and after a night like that, we wouldn’t be surprised if his plans involve some more singing — or at least some more Nashville fun! And no matter how good he is at singing, with two Super Bowl titles to his name, we’re thinking he’d have a pretty big following if he did pursue a musical career!
