What an incredible duet! After Katy Perry presented Dolly Parton with the Tex Ritter Award at the 2016 ACMs, the singers took the stage together to perform three of Dolly’s biggest hits — and it was amazing! See a clip of the performance here!
What do you get when you put a pop diva and a country diva on a stage together? One mind-blowing performance! That’s exactly what happened when Dolly Parton, 70, and Katy Perry, 31, sang a duet at the Academy of Country Music Awards on April 3. Katy didn’t just have the honor of presenting Dolly with an award, but she got to sing a medley of Dolly’s “Coat of Many Colors,” “Jolene,” and “9 to 5” with the superstar herself!
Katy was clearly honored to present Dolly the Tex Ritter Award for her NBC television movie, Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors, but it was more than clear that she was even more excited to be sharing the stage with Dolly. Katy channeled Dolly’s classic way of dancing and belting out the songs, proving that she was the perfect person to join Dolly — and she even bowed down to the country legend at the end of their performance! While they sang side by side with a flashing Dolly & Katy sign behind them, the girls had everyone on their feet because of how great they sounded together!
As if it wasn’t unreal enough to see a country legend sing with one of pop music’s biggest names, the ladies looked as flawless as they sounded. They both dressed totally wild, with Katy sporting a festive hot pink cowgirl outfit and Dolly donning a sparkly multicolored sequin blazer (her own coat of many colors!). Maybe they are cut from the same lamay after all, just like Katy said in her introduction!
Upon announcing the news that they’d be performing together on the ACMs, both Katy and Dolly couldn’t help gushing over each other on Twitter — despite the fact that they had never even met before!

🙏🏼 MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED🙏🏼 I shall remember though that I am but one sequin on this living legend’s costume! https://t.co/4XY42M3ked

In addition to their excited tweets, Dolly told Entertainment Tonight that she was really looking forward to the performance, as she knew Katy was a big fan. “I’ve always been so touched and moved by all the different things that she’ll say and do,” Dolly said. “Who knows, this might strike up a whole new thing!”
After a performance like that, we certainly don’t think that would be a bad idea! Talk about some major girl power!
