We have to say — Jennifer Lopez was the perfect first guest for ‘The Late Late Show Carpool Karaoke Primetime Special.’ Not only did she sing along to her biggest hits, her A-list celebrity phone let James prank text Leonardo DiCaprio!
OMG!!! We knew Jennifer Lopez, 46, would bring something extra special when she joined James Corden, 37, on March 29 for his one year anniversary primetime special, but who knew it would be in the form or prank texting Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio, 41? You’ve got to see what he wrote to the star posing as J Lo, and what Leo texted back in return!
The most hilarious moment of Jennifer’s Carpool Karaoke didn’t even involve singing. It was when James pulled out Jennifer’s cell phone, which was loaded with an unreal number of A-list celebrities. James took it over and zeroed in on Leo’s number, and he then proceed to text him, “I have a feeling like I need to cut loose. Any suggestions let me know, J Lo, you know from the block.” Then HE ACTUALLY SENT IT! Jennifer was mortified, but laughed so hard her earring fell off.
The pair then jammed out to “On The Floor,” even jumping up and down in their seats when suddenly Leo ACTUALLY REPLIED BACK to Jen’s text, saying “You mean tonight BooBoo, club-wise?” and it was REAL! Jennifer showed it to the camera and sure enough, it was completely legit and from Leo himself. “Here’s the funny part, he actually thinks I’m serious!” Jennifer noted in total disbelief that he would think she’d actually call herself J Lo in real life.
J Lo and James started things off with her amazing “My Love Don’t Cost A Thing,” and girl brought the energy, car dancing along to one of her catchiest songs. “Big Booty” was up next and boy did she show off her moves, even letting James take over the chorus for a time. These two make such a cute Carpool Karaoke couple, their humor and chemistry was amazing and it’s definitely one of his best segments to date!
The Late Late Show usually airs at 12:37 am, so this special allowed viewers to watch the hilarious Carpool Karaoke segments in primetime, AKA, before we all pass out. The sketch has been James’ standout segment, drawing the likes of One Direction, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, and its biggest fan is 22-year-old Justin Bieber, who has made THREE appearances. Not only has Adele’s Spice Girls/Nicki Minaj cover become the most-watched late-night clip ever, but the segment is also being shopped around to become a Carpool Karaoke series.
