Kanye West has blessed us all this Easter…with more new music! The rapper got in the spiritual mood for the religious holiday by releasing a 2-minute clip for the song ‘Ultralight Prayer,’ which features gospel singer Kirk Franklin. Listen here!
No need to go looking for what the Easter Bunny left behind this year…Kanye West, 38, has a gift for us and we have it for you right here. He surprised fans by dropping the song “Ultralight Prayer” out of nowhere, and you can listen to it by clicking inside now!
The clip is only two minutes long and appears to be an alternate or extended version of “Ultralight Beam,” which is the opening track from ‘Ye’s most recent album, The Life of Pablo. Like that song, this features spoken vocals from Kirk Franklin, along with chorus-like background music from Kelly Price.
Yeezy put the song up on SoundCloud without saying anything, then tweeted the link out a few hours later. With a spiritual, yet haunting, message, Easter was the perfect day to drop the spiritual track. It actually doesn’t sound like Kanye has any vocals on the song at all, but we can guess it was produced and partially created by him, which is why he’s so adamant about sharing it. Even though Kanye released T.L.O.P. in February, he was making changes up to the hours before it came out, and has said that he’s still updating the record to make it sound as good as it possibly can. We all know Kanye is a perfectionist, but he’s really taking things to the next level now!
In one of his many Twitter rants recently, Kanye said he planned to go “Mad Max” and release three albums a year along with six clothing collections a year from now on. It’s already the end of March and we only have one album and one clothing line in 2016, so let’s hope Yeezy is hard at work preparing what’s next so he can keep this promise!
What do you think of “Ultralight Prayer,” HollywoodLifers? Did Kanye surprise you by releasing a new song on Easter?
