This is not a drill, ‘Shadowhunters’ fans! Magnus is totally going to crash Alec’s wedding to Lydia! Matthew Daddario, Harry Shum Jr. and the rest of the cast spilled the beans at WonderCon on Mar. 25, and now we’re totally freaking out. Here’s the scoop!
Oh my god, Shadowhunters is going to get SO REAL on Mar. 29! The cast stopped by WonderCon on Mar. 25, and Matthew Daddario and Harry Shum Jr. dropped a bombshell about Malec (our favorite show ship of Magnus & Alec): Magnus is going to crash Alec’s wedding! We have all the details, right here.
Ahhh! We’ve been hardcore shipping Magnus and Alec since the very beginning of Shadowhunters, and now it seems like their forbidden love is about to come to a head! If you’re a fan, then you know that Alec is not out of the closet, even though his sister, friends, and Magnus clearly know how he feels. However, he cares more about his family than his own heart, so he decides to get married to Lydia (Stephanie Bennett), a Clave member. The union could ease some tensions between the Clave and Alec’s family.
In episode 11, Magnus tried to tell him that he needs to follow his heart and do what’s right for him, but he totally brushed it off. However, Matt and Harry spilled the beans at WonderCon that this won’t be the end of the issue! In a clip shared at the expo, Magnus shows up to stop the marriage when he is invited by Izzy (Emeraude Toubia). Alec’s mom Maryse (Nicola Correia Damude) tells him to leave, and he romantically responds that he won’t leave unless Alec asks him to. SWOON!
“Alec at this point is not just lying to himself, he’s actively building up walls to prevent him from feeling what’s actually going on inside of him,” Matt explained at WonderCon, as reported by Variety. “All the distractions and various issues brought on by all of these people… he has a lot to think about.” However, this time, like most “Alec makes the right decisions in the end.”
We also learned about Magnus, with Harry explaining “you’re gonna see how many walls he’s built and that it’s a big deal for him to be flirtatious” like he is with Alec. Awww! We don’t know if Magnus outs him (we sure hope not!), if Alec finally reveals the truth to everyone that he’s gay and loves Magnus (we sure hope so!), or if he tells Magnus to leave and carries on with the wedding, but we’ll just have to wait until 9pm on Mar. 29 on Freeform to find out!
