Well, this is certainly ironic. Jared Fogle, who became famous as the spokesperson for Subway, is currently serving time in prison, where his job is reminiscent of his previous gig — he’s been working in the cafeteria! And making sandwiches is reportedly one of his duties!
Jared Fogle spent 15 years helping Subway advertise…but we doubt he spent much time behind the counter making people’s sandwich orders back then. Now that he’s serving at least 13 years in jail, though, he’s getting a taste of what it’s like in the food service biz! Jared is working cafeteria duty behind bars, according to a new report — get the scoop here.
The 38-year-old’s original job at the Federal Correctional Institution of Englewood was at the end of the cafeteria line, TMZ reports, adding that officials couldn’t help but laugh over how ironic this was, given his previous gig. But apparently fellow inmates thought he was being rewarded with a “cushy” job, so he’s now working in the correctional officer’s cafeteria instead. Still serving food, though!
Jared was investigated for child pornography in 2015, and in August, he agreed to a plea deal. The deal sentenced him to 15 years, 8 months in prison, with 13 years minimum to be served, and requires him to pay $1.4 million in restitution ($100,000 to each victim). He went into prison on Nov. 21, 2015, and was transferred to FCI Englewood in December.
It’s only been a few months, and things are already rough for Jared behind bars — he was attacked by an inmate to the point of bleeding back in January! “An inmate named Steven Nigg pushed Fogle down and then unloaded a barrage of punches to this face,” TMZ reported, with the documents confirming that Jared was left with a bloody nose, swollen face and scratches. He was put in solitary confinement.
What do you think of Jared’s prison job, HollywoodLifers? Are you laughing at the irony, too?
