Sandy was the Scottish minister of the Church of Scotland, who served as the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland from 1997 to 1998. Though David is incredibly famous as an actor, both for his iconic role on Doctor Who, and his turn as a villain on the amazing Marvel show Jessica Jones, his father was a beloved public figure.
David Tennant's dad passed away this week. I feel a bit weird feeling sad for someone I don't know, but his dad seemed awesome.

So sweet! Doctor Who fans clearly care deeply about David, who portrayed the 10th Doctor from 2005 to 2013 on the legendary sci-fi show. David gave a moving tribute to his terminally ill father at the National Television Awards, where he won the Special Recognition Award.
“I would like to dedicate this to my dad. He’s an inspiration and a role model. Thanks, Sandy.” Fun fact: Sandy made a cameo on Doctor Who in 2008, playing a footman in a scene with his son! May he rest in peace.
