Just like every year in the past, some major ‘American Horror Story’ news was revealed at PaleyFest on March 20. Many cast members were on hand during the show’s panel on Sunday, when Ryan Murphy talked about two ideas he’s working on for Season 6. Find out more here!
We can’t wait for American Horror Story Season 6! During the show’s PaleyFest panel on March 20, creator Ryan Murphy revealed that a majority of the Hotel cast is welcome to return next season. Plus, he also talked a little bit about the new theme for Season 6!
“The interesting thing about this season is we’ve been working on two ideas at once, which we’ve never done. So I don’t want to say what it maybe is…. Both things that we’re writing right now – we haven’t declared a winner – will have a different form, so we’re excited about that. We’ll talk about it soon, but we haven’t landed on it yet,” Ryan told the audience inside the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. The only other thing that he said was the creative team has always been influenced by “the opera.”
Ryan also added that “every darling” on stage — Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Denis O’Hare, Angela Bassett, Matt Bomer, Wes Bentley, Cheyenne Jackson and Finn Wittrock — was more than welcome to return for Season 6!
So unfortunately, Ryan didn’t reveal much, which is odd, considering PaleyFest has traditionally become a forum for big announcements, especially for American Horror Story. For example, the Asylum panel announced that Coven would be the title for Season 3 and Kathy Bates would be involved. The Coven panel then revealed the news of Michael Chiklis joining the show for Freak Show. Lastly, the Freak Show panel announced Matt Bomer and Cheyenne Jackson were joining the cast of Hotel.
Before tonight’s panel. Angela Bassett was the only confirmed cast member to be returning, while Sarah Paulson was unofficially said to be involved and Lady Gaga said she’ll be back to the show, but didn’t specify when or how. We still don’t know a lot about Season 6, but we’re still super stoked! The series will return to FX in the fall.
