Butler, who have become a real power in the East now, showed their astonishing shooting accuracy in their First Round win over Texas Tech. It was their clutch baskets, inspired by Kellen Dunham and Kelan Martin, that really stood out as they over-powered their opponent.
Virginia showed their quality in their First Round match-up, destroying Hampton in an 81-45 opening game rout. Senior Anthony Gill lead his team in scoring with 19 points. But the game was best remembered for UVA coach Tony Bennett‘s collapse on the sideline, shortly before the end of the first half. Thankfully Tony was ok, and was just dehydrated. Drink plenty of water, Tony before this one!
Virginia will also be wary of last season’s NCAA Tournament performance when they fell in this round to a 60-54 defeat to Michigan State. Like this season, they were tipped as a Final Four team. Incredibly, this is the first time both these schools have competed against each other. Let’s make it a game to remember, lads!
