Melissa McCarthy is finally explaining why she won’t be a part of the ‘Gilmore Girls’ revival. She reveals in an all-new interview what went down and sends her love to the cast.
Pretty much every Gilmore Girls cast member is returning for the revival — except Melissa McCarthy, 45. The actress, who played Sookie, finally clarifies why she isn’t joining the four-episode Netflix revival. Circumstances unfortunately came up that prevented Melissa from reprising the role of Sookie, but there’s no bad blood!
“I didn’t actually get asked to do it. But I think they thought I was busy, and then by the time it did come up, then I actually was,” Melissa told E! News. OMG! This is just terrible! Melissa is a busy girl, so it’s not surprising, but if only the Gilmore Girls writers had known to ask her sooner!
Despite not being asked initially, everything is all good between Melissa and the rest of the Gilmore Girls cast and crew. Like every other Gilmore Girls fan, she’ll be watching when the revival series hits Netflix! Here’s everything you need to know about the revival.
“I’m actually thrilled that it’s happening,” she continued. “I loved that show, and I think the fans for that show are super loyal and great and I will watch every single one of them.”
Die-hard fans like us haven’t completely given up hope that Melissa will bring Sookie back to Stars Hollow in a quick guest appearance. Melissa revealed that she really does want to reprise her role, if it’s possible.
“I want to cook again. I want to put salt and then stir,” she joked. “That was seven years of my life and it was really great. I was proud of that show.”
