MacKenzie Bourg was once a contestant on ‘The Voice,’ and now he’s made the top 6 on ‘American Idol.’ In a new interview, MacKenzie reveals he’s grateful to be on ‘Idol,’ where he’s able to be ‘100% me.’
MacKenzie Bourg, 23, may have not won The Voice, but he still has a chance to win American Idol! MacKenzie is certain American Idol is the perfect place for him to grow as an artist. He says being on Idol allows him to “be myself” and not a “fabricated version.”
MacKenzie is no stranger to singing competitions. When asked about the biggest difference between American Idol and The Voice, MacKenzie told a group of reporters, including HollywoodLife.com:
“I think it kind of comes across in my performances like how comfortable I am,” he said in the interview. “You know, I have kind of gotten to be myself here, and I have gotten to do the songs the way I’ve wanted to, and I got to perform one of my own songs which is absurd to really fathom right now. Nothing against, you know, the other one [The Voice], but I’ve kind of — look at me — I’m dressed how I want to dress.”
MacKenzie loves that he’s able to hit the Idol stage and play exactly what he wants to. “I go up there and play the songs I want to, how I want to, and you know, it’s no secret why I think Idol produces so many mega stars, because what you have seen so far on TV has been 100% me,” he continued. “So the people at home fall in love with me and love what I am doing. They are genuinely falling in love with me and not a fabricated version.”
MacKenzie was a fan favorite on The Voice season three. He was on Team CeeLo and his elimination was one of the most shocking moments in show history.
Only a few more weeks let to go until we find out if MacKenzie wins the final season of American Idol! The show airs Wednesdays and Thursdays on FOX.
