‘American Idol’ Top 6-er La’Porsha Renae just might win the whole damn thing, and she couldn’t be more deserving. HollywoodLife.com spoke to La’Porsha and she told us EXCLUSIVELY that this is the most important season of ‘Idol’ — find out what she had to say!
La’Porsha Renae, 21, is one of the best contestants that American Idol has ever seen, and she is super grateful to be a part of the last season. Read on to hear about how La’Porsha is feeling about the competition, as well as her favorite Idol performance of all time and her embarrassing onstage moment!
La’Porsha tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that it feels amazing for her to be part of the Top 6 in the final season! “This is literally a dream come true,” she gushes. “It’s better than being on you know, any of the previous seasons, because it’s the last season, you know? People are gonna remember the last season forever.” So true! La’Porsha adds that being part of such a small group “in the final season is just a blessing. I speak for all of us when I say we are just so thankful”. Love this girl.
La’Porsha’s story is one of the most emotional we’ve ever heard: she and her baby daughter Nayale were abused by La’Porsha’s husband, and the two escaped him by moving to a shelter. La’Porsha actually drove directly from the shelter to audition for Idol, and the rest is history! How inspiring is that?!
We’ve seen from her performances that La’Porsha is a total pro with tons of star power, but even the best of the best make mistakes. She revealed that her most embarrassing moment on stage was when she sang “House of the Rising Sun”! “At the end of the song, I held a note and I made a face and I squatted,” La’Porsha says. “And so, when I watched it back I was like ‘Oh, my God,’ I actually reminded myself of Eva Lee from The Wiz, ’cause you know, I had that look. I was watching that like, no, baby, you shouldn’t have, but you know sometimes you just do something the wrong way — it can look good or it can look bad but I did what I felt was the best.” We didn’t notice a thing, La’Porsha!
American Idol airs Thursdays at 8/7c — be sure to tune in tonight, March 17, for more of La’Porsha as well as a special performance by past Idol Adam Lambert!
