Promising LA Clippers forward Branden Dawson has been arrested in Los Angeles on Mar. 13 under suspicion of felony domestic violence, according to a report. Click to find out the details.
LA Clippers have high hopes for Branden Dawson, 23, but they may have to wash their hands of him. The fledgling forward was arrested in Los Angeles on Mar. 13 for felony domestic violence, TMZ Sports reports. He was taken into custody at 8.30 a.m. Sunday morning and is currently being held on a $50,000 bail.
Branden, who had only just returned to the Clippers after spending some time honing his talents in the NBA Development League for the Erie BayHawks, was a star player for Michigan State before he was drafted in 2015 in the second round.
So far, the player’s rep and the Clippers are yet to comment on Branden’s arrest. Branden’s arrest report reveals the basketball pro was booked at 9.50 a.m. at the LAPD’s Pacific Division Station.
As of yet, details about what Branden has been accused of are also scarce, as the investigation continues. A felony domestic violence charge can bring a nasty fine/or up to 1-year behind bars.
It comes at a time when Branden may have hoped to have contributed to the Clippers’ season, which will surely end in a playoff spot. While in Pennsylvania, Branden played in six games for the BayHawks, averaging 19.2 points and 9.2 rebounds.
However, this incident will surely put his career on hold for the time being, and the Clippers may decide to cancel his contract if they deem him more trouble than he’s worth.
It’s always frustrating to hear of a young talent wasting his opportunity off the court. He was still in custody as the Clippers tipped off against the Cavaliers at 3.30 p.m. EST this afternoon.
