It’s time for the ‘Purpose’ World Tour! Justin Bieber begins his massive trek in Seattle on March 9, and he’s bringing singer-songwriter Moxie Raia along for the North American leg. Not familiar with Moxie? Get to know five things about her right here!
As you gear up for Justin Bieber to come to your city, it’s certainly important to know who is openers are! Instead of bringing huge names on his Purpose World Tour, Justin, 22, has decided to bring newcomers Moxie Raia and Post Malone along as opening acts. Moxie, a 25-year-old singer-songriter and New Jersey native, couldn’t be more excited to be supporting The Biebs — and we have five quick facts to help you get excited about her, too!
1. She landed a record deal by covering Big Sean’s song.
After studying Jazz at New York’s Columbia University, Moxie caught the attention of Capitol Records with a cover of Big Sean‘s song “Beware.” Considering Justin and Big Sean are buds, maybe that’s how JB discovered her too!
2. She has a mixtape coming out in the middle of the Purpose tour.
As if opening up for Justin Bieber isn’t a big enough deal, Moxie will be celebrating the release of her first mixtape too! Titled 931, the collection will drop on March 23, the last night the Purpose Tour is at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Talk about a red-letter day for Moxie!
3. She has been a vegetarian since she was 3 years old.
You won’t find Moxie eating meat while she’s on tour with Justin! Although she hasn’t explained why she’s a vegetarian, she has hinted that it may have had something to do with hot dogs — she once shared a picture of the “last hot dog” she ever ate!
4. She’ll likely be busting a move while opening for Justin.
Before beginning her singing career, Moxie had been a competitive dancer since she was just 6 years old. While she may be focused on her voice now, we’re sure she’ll be showing off her dancing skills during her performances too!
5. She’s already collaborated with some big names — including her co-opener.
Famed DJ Steve Aoki remixed Moxie’s song, “I Love It When You Cry,” but that was just the beginning. Her upcoming mixtape will include features from the likes of Skrillex, Chance the Rapper, Pusha T, Vic Mensa, and Post Malone, who happens to be Justin’s other opener on the Purpose Tour. It’d be pretty awesome if they joined forces on stage, huh?
