Oh no! Our favorite group of shadowhunters is officially ripping at the seams! Alec makes a bold and violent choice that could end the life of Izzy’s lover Meliorn, and Jace, Izzy, and Clary are forced to betray him. See our full recap, here.
We are literally shaking from the Mar. 8 episode of Shadowhunters! The crew we’ve come to know and love is falling apart, and it’s all because Alec is getting way too militant along with his new fiancee Lydia. It’s officially freaking us out! We have all the crazy details, here.
The unthinkable happened in Episode 9: Rise Up. Jace actually betrayed his brother/parabatai Alec, and for good reason! Alec’s new fiancee Lydia brought in Meliorn, Izzy’s seelie lover, to question him about spying for Valentine. When he doesn’t have sufficient answers, she sends Alec to bring him to the Silent Brothers. Remember, the creepy mind-reading people who almost killed Clary? The order meant certain death for Meliorn.
The extreme action scared Jace to give up the cup to him, obviously upset Izzy, and showed just how far the Clave was willing to go, and it ain’t pretty. Clary, Jace, and Izzy hatch a plan to work with the downworlders to save Meliorn and betray Alec.
However, the moment where Jace pushes Alec down to let Clary and Meliorn run away was absolutely heartbreaking. Jace finally confronts Alec about his feelings for him, and Alec goes nuts. He pins him down and holds a knife to his throat! Jace actually demands that he kill him if they’re going to be on different sides. Alec lets him go, but refuses to go with him. Tearssss.
We should also mention that Meliorn did tell the Clave that Clary has the cup. That’s why she and Jace were forced to run away. For a while, Clary seeks refuge with Simon in his new home with the vamps. Simon’s definitely not happy about being a vampire now, but he’s coming around. We knew he could never stay mad at Clary. To thank Clary for saving him, Meliorn offers up info on where Valentine is hiding. This could be Clary’s chance to finally save her mom, but is she ready to confront her father? We’ll just have to wait and see!
