While Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders were battling it out on the Democratic debate stage in Flint, Michigan on Mar. 6, Maine was voting in the Democratic caucus. And Bernie won! We have all the details, here.
While Hillary Clinton was busy pleading her case for the presidency to the citizens of Flint, Michigan at the Democratic debate on Mar. 6, Bernie Sanders was snatching the Maine Democratic caucus out from under her. We have all the details on the big win, here!
Bernie is having a huge day on Mar. 6! While he was crushing the Democratic debate on stage with Hillary, Maine was singing his praises through their Democratic caucus. Bernie totally annihilated Hillary in the Pine Tree State, with 64.2% of the Democratic vote while Hillary got just 35.6%.
Because the debate was currently going on when the results of the vote were released, neither Bernie nor Hillary started the debate knowing who won the state, though it’s possible they could have guessed. It’s no big surprise, Maine is close in ideology to it’s fellow nearby Northeastern states of Vermont and New Hampshire, which also supported the former Vermont senator by a large margin.
Bernie has been having a great weekend. On Super Saturday, Bernie took two of the three caucuses. He won Nebraska and Kansas, while Hillary only won Louisiana. He’s working hard to close the gap between him and the front runner. At this point, Bernie has 8 states in his back pocket while Hillary has 11. She still leads by a huge margin in super delegates, who can vote forever they want, but Bernie’s strong showing in the debates could help to change that.
