Aw! Sarah Michelle Gellar, 38, celebrated the 17th anniversary of the movie Cruel Intentions on March 5 by getting ready for the TV reboot series! SMG is transforming herself into the seductive Kathryn once again — and she started by dyeing her hair back brown!
Sarah posted a photo of her script of the Cruel Intentions pilot. She captioned the March 5 Instagram pic, “How I am spending the 17 anniversary of the release of#cruelintentions #Crueltv.” OMG. We are screaming! We can’t wait to see SMG bring Kathryn back. Ryan Phillippe also posted a video from the movie to celebrate the anniversary.
Cruel Intentions hit theaters on March 5, 1999. The movie, which starred Sarah, Ryan and Reese Witherspoon, became an instant teen classic. It’s hard to believe it’s been 17 years since this movie was released!
Just one day before the 17th anniversary of Cruel Intentions, Sarah revealed her new brown hair. As we all know, Sarah usually rocks blonde hair, but Kathryn had brown hair in the movie. She posted a photo of her new brown locks and said, “#Brownhairdontcare (actually kind of love it!!) thank you everyone.”
Sarah announced she would be reprising her role on the new NBC series on Feb. 24. Thus far, Sarah is the only original cast member returning for the TV series.
The TV show will follow 17-year-old Bash Casey, the son of Sebastian and Annette from the movie. Bash will be played by American Crime’s Taylor John Smith. Kate Levering will play Annette. Kathryn’s stepdaughter Cassidy will be played by Samantha Logan.
