Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton squared off yet again in another primary battle, this time during the Kansas democratic caucuses on March 5. But Bernie came out the victor, winning the state!
Congratulations to Bernie Sanders! The democratic presidential candidate took Kansas by storm on March 5, winning the state’s democratic caucuses. More than 40,000 Democrats turned up to vote, and they were totally feelin’ the Bern. Sorry, Hillary Clinton!
Everything’s coming up roses for Bernie in the Sunflower State! The democratic candidate swept the Kansas caucuses, beating Hillary in their already close race. This is now the 6th state that the Vermont senator has won, beginning to close the gap between him and Hillary’s 10 states.
Going into the caucuses, Bernie was expected to be the champion, though not overwhelmingly. Like that all-important Iowa caucus day, the polls were closed, but Independents and Republicans were allowed to switch affiliation at the polling site! If someone’s feeling the Bern, or looks at Hillary and thinks “hey, I’m With Her,” they can still vote for their chosen candidate without having to be restricted by party lines. That definitely played a big part in today’s win.
After Super Tuesday, the race to the White House got even more tense between Hillary and Bernie. Hillary took home seven states to Bernie’s four. Winning four states was actually incredible, considering it was feared that Bernie would only win his home state of Vermont, but it didn’t change the fact that Hillary beat him. Now, with the Kansas caucuses over, it appears that the race is just going to get more intense from this moment forward! Onward and upward to the next primaries — and the next debate, March 9!
