Coming back from the Pit with Josh as my partner was so surreal. We were pretty pumped about becoming teammates, but the house felt differently. I don’t think it really hit me that I had beaten Tuff until the morning of the sixth challenge when Josh put on his purple jersey.
When we arrived at the challenge we saw plates, crates and a runway-type setup. “Welcome to Tractor Full,” said Steve. This challenge was designed to make us puke, literally. The object was to eat one of the plates of food at each of the four stations (breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert) while adding weight to a sled we had to pull behind us to a finish line – about 100 yards away. Sounds simple right? Wrong!
That 100 yards was full of hills, fire ants from hell and mud. Each table had two plates of food to choose from and they were both absolutely disgusting. One was supposed to be a little less repulsive, but because of the rain and bugs, either one we chose we were likely going to vomit. If we chose to eat the “less disgusting food” it was two bags of weight added to our sled, and the other choice was only one bag.
Josh and I were in full-fledged competition mode. We had one goal and that was to win. We weren’t letting anyone stand in our way! The first station was probably the worst. We had to pick between a horrendous looking omelet or soggy sausage. We picked the sausage. Next it was boneless wings or chicken gizzards… Unfortunately we picked the gizzards and the stomach pain started to set in. We were neck-in-neck with Tessa and Shane and pretty much everyone else was stuck at the breakfast station. The third station was tofu or cow tongue. Um, excuse me? I wasn’t about to eat ANY sort of tongue. We chose the soggy mushy tofu. At that point we finally had the lead. The last station was marshmallows or spotted dick. I don’t even know what spotted dick is, so we started stuffing marshmallows into our mouths!
We saw Tessa and Shane making a comeback so we started shoveling faster. We finally finished eating, and it took everything I had not to yak everywhere. I was struggling. We HUSTLED up that hill and heard Steve yelling for us. My legs were burning and my heart was racing but I WANTED that win. At last, we crossed the finish line and I could taste the victory… Literally! WHOOP WHOOP! We just got first place!! But we couldn’t even celebrate… Both of us immediately started puking. Not my finest moment.
As the others finished it came down to Riley and Becky or Cody and Nicole to finish last. I yelled for Becky and I think she had about 10 marshmallows in her mouth at one point. They finally finished, putting Cody and Nicole last… (Cue the intimidating music.) This made mine and Josh’s decision that much crazier because we didn’t expect Cody and Nicole to be the losers. Poor Cody once again was headed to the Pit!
Melissa came to get our decision pretty quickly so Josh and I didn’t have very much time to talk about things. It was between Jorden and Bo or Shane and Tessa, but we sort of promised Tessa and Shane we wouldn’t send them during the challenge. We wanted to make the best move strategically for us and for the house, and this was an opportunity to break a strong alliance between Jorden and Nicole.
We talked with Tessa and Shane and Jorden and Bo to let them know they were our top options. Josh and I were pretty sold on Jorden and Bo for several reasons. First and foremost, it would break the toughest alliance in the house. It would also potentially break up Cody and Nicole. And let’s be honest here, Bo and Jorden had just sent me into the Pit for no reason against the toughest girl in the house (who was also my close friend) and fully expected me to go home. Karma is a little beotch. Sorry I’m not sorry!
After I told Melissa that Josh and I chose Jorden and Bo, I felt a little bad for Nicole because she immediately started crying; but I was also confused because in our talk with her and Cody she said straight up that she wanted to go against Jorden so I didn’t know why she had this dramatic reaction. Nonetheless, I was ready to get to the Pit and watch one of them ride off into the sunset!
The Return Of The Jerk
What a jerk was back! It’s a shame because I really wanted to watch something more physical. Nicole quickly got the lead on Jorden and took the first round like it was nothing. Jorden found her rhythm the second go and gave Nicole a run for her money! Jorden’s faces were absolutely priceless when she was yanking that rope! She meant business for sure and tied up the score 1-1. It all came down to the third round and out of no where Nicole catches an asthma attack! None of this was shown which is crazy because it was so intense. Nicole looked like a fish out of water she sas struggling so hard to breathe and Jorden refused to keep going while Nicole was in so much pain. Nicole managed to stand up and finish competing and Jorden eventually beat her but it was EXTREMELY intense! Nobody saw that coming.
Cody and Bo shook things up even more. Bo should have taken Cody to the cleaners but Cody never disappoints in the Pit! He made Bo look dumb out there and beat him 2-0! Poor Bo… If he wouldn’t have listened to Jorden, he probably wouldn’t have even been sent in… But that’s the thing about Redneck Island, you just never know what’s going to happen. Nicole and Bo were sent packing and Cody and Jorden became a team. Talk about crazy! It couldn’t have played out any better. Josh and I were very satisfied with the outcome and pumped to see what came next. How much crazier could this season get?!
Come back every Friday morning for Margaret Wood’s blog!
