Go ahead, call it a comeback! Mischa Barton is ready to dance her way (back) into all of our hearts on season 22 of ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ and use her rocky past to help others.
Marissa Cooper may not have survived The O.C., but Mischa Barton has risen above all for Dancing with the Stars, and is really wanting that Mirror Ball trophy, an insider told HollywoodLife.com exclusively. The actress, 30, is “determined to make DWTS her official comeback.” We’d love that!
“She wants to win and make this a catalyst to getting more TV and film opportunities,” a source told us. Mischa’s last role was the TV Movie, Cyberstalker in 2012, since she’s been focusing on movies. However, her movie roles haven’t been leads.
Mischa also hopes she can use her past to help others. “She has had weight and substance abuse issues that she wants to address and put to the forefront because she feels that it would help others who are going through or have in the past gone through similar struggles,” our insider said. “Plus the money doesn’t hurt, and winning she’ll get more, so if she doesn’t win she’ll think the whole process was a bust because she is really trying to get that trophy and that payday that comes with it.”
In 2007, she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, marijuana possession and driving without a valid license. Two years later, after a dental visit, she was sectioned for two weeks under a 5150, allowing a psychiatrist to confine someone that may have a mental disorder. “If they feel you are depressed or a danger to yourself they can hold you on a 5150,” she later explained to Tatler magazine. “I was in a lot of pain and if they feel you are depressed or a danger to yourself they can hold you on a 5150. I am terrified of needles and they wanted to pump me full of drugs and I said, ‘No, absolutely not. I don’t want to be here,’ and got into a fight with the nurses, and that led to my 5150.”
We also found that Mischa was chosen for the spot after Lindsay Lohan turned it down — and she’s very grateful. “Producers again came after Lindsey hoping she would work for a discounted rate,” the source explained exclusively to HollywoodLife.com. “The show routinely comes after Lindsey with offers and she always turns them down. She does not want to do more reality TV.” We would have loved Linds, but who else is stoked for Marissa?
Do you think Mischa will make it far on Dancing with the Stars?
