The world of country music was rocked March 4 with the tragic passing of Joey Feek after her brave battle against cervical cancer. The Nashville world is a tight-knit group full of support and love, and of course the stars came out with prayers and tributes.
Country music lost a bright star with the way too soon passing of Joey Feek, 40, after her inspiring fight against terminal cancer. Her husband and musical parter Rory, 49, broke the sad news to the world, and now fellow country artists such as Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood and more are sending out their thought and prayers about Joey’s passing.
“My wife’s greatest dream came true today,” Rory, wrote in a blog post. “She is in Heaven. The cancer is gone. The pain has ceased. And all her tears are dry” he revealed, letting the world know Joey was finally at peace. Rory said that his wife died in the afternoon, surrounded by loved ones. “My precious bride breathed her last. And a moment later took her first breath on the other side.
Shortly after the news broke, celebrities from across the world of country music took to Twitter and made sure to show their appreciation for Joey’s talent, as well as praise for her courageous battle and tragic loss.

We knew the end was near when Rory posted a photo to his Facebook page earlier in the day with a photo of his eldest daughter holding Joey’s hand with the caption “…our oldest daughter Heidi by her mama’s side last night. Holding on and letting go.” The singer had said her goodbyes to loved ones on Feb. 29 according to another one of Rory’s updates.
Our thoughts are with Joey’s family, friends and fans at this time.
